INTENTION

I first started the Damn Doctor as somewhat of a joke.  The phrase was intended to stir humor, while allowing some to relish truth in the sarcasm.  As with many honest things done in spontaneity, it stuck.  I had people approaching me on the street saying how much they liked the name, the idea, the content.  The duality of sentiment of the name rings true to people’s experience with modern medicine.  A kind of “can’t live with or without it”.  I get that.  I’ve been on both sides of the fence.  The contemporary medical world is rather awesome and loathsome all at once.

The intention of the Damn Doctor is twofold.  First, it’s a place to share my perspective on the many facets of medicine.  Physicians who have been patients, or who have intimately known some, offer a special view.  This is my opinion of course.  No, you don’t need to have had cancer in order to understand how to treat it. But, unfortunately, it greatly helps.  Again, this is my opinion…. so is the entirety of the Blog herein.  All essays are written simply from my tiny vantage point over an enormous horizon.  I claim to be no authority, I only wish to share with you, Reader, what I know.  The medical world gets more complicated every day, and the health and wellness industry is in everyone’s living room.  There is so much to understand.  More than ever, we all need to have a voice in the world.  It is here I give you mine.

The other purpose for this site is to clearly detail the other offering I give the world: my practice.  I am a board certified family medicine physician who is a life long student of functional medicine and Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of medicine.  I have the deepest passion for true preventative medicine and chronic disease cure which is perfectly embodied in the combining of these fields.  The practice of an Ayurvedic, i.e. ancient, approach to diet and lifestyle supported with modern science is the single most powerful method for healing chronic disease that I have found.  It has saved my life, and I offer it to yours.

Welcome.

Shalom and Namaste.
